Top 5 Best Discraft Drivers

1. Discraft Nuke

Besides being one of Discraft’s most popular drivers, the Nuke is one of the most used discs of all time. The Nuke is an overstable high speed driver that features a thick rim compared to other distance drivers.

When throwing the Nuke you can expect a lot of glide and consistent fade at the end of the flight. It only has a turn rating of -1 which means you can put some power behind your throw without worrying about it flipping over.

This is also one of the best feeling discs for forehands that I’ve been able to find. The thick rim lets you get a good grip and helps to push you past your maximum throwing distance.

  • Flight Ratings: Speed 13 | Glide 5 | Turn -1 | Fade 3
  • Weight: 150-180g
  • Skill Level: Advanced
  • Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

If you want to throw longer and more consistent drives, the Discraft Nuke might be the disc for you. The stability of this disc allows players of all skills to easily gain some extra distance when throwing it.

2. Discraft Zeus

The Zeus is another disc that belongs to the Paul McBeth line, and it’s quite a fast one. A few reasons that this driver is so popular is because of the grip, glide, and distance that it can reach for players with high arm speeds.

For comparison, the most similar disc would be the Innova Destroyer, so if you’ve ever thrown that popular Innova driver then you know how this one will fly.

One thing to note is that the Zeus needs a lot of power behind the throw to get the full flight path and high glide. It has a speed of 12, so I wouldn’t recommend this Discraft driver to first-time players.

  • Flight Ratings: Speed 12 | Glide 5 | Turn -1 | Fade 3
  • Weight: 160-175g
  • Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
  • Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

When throwing the Zeus you’ll be able to reach those distances that you’ve struggled with in the past. This 13-speed driver comes with a lot of comfort and grip with their custom ESP plastic, as well as consistent glide and fade.

3. Discraft Hades

Just like the Zeus above, the Hades is relatively new and was developed to be part of the Paul McBeth line of discs. It’s an understable driver with maximum glide to help any player get their disc in the perfect landing zone.

If your local course has a few wide-open holes that need massive drives, the Hades might be the best Discraft disc that you can add to your bag. Even though it’s a high speed disc that’s designed for more experienced players, newer players will be able to get extra distance as long as they can control the turn on the disc.

The best throws for using the Hades are hyzer release backhands, although it makes a good roller disc as well.

  • Flight Ratings: Speed 12 | Glide 6 | Turn -3 | Fade 2
  • Weight: 157-175g
  • Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
  • Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

The Hades is one of the highest glide discs available today, and you’ll be amazed at how long this disc will fly towards the basket. It’s understable and doesn’t require as much arm speed as many of the other distance drivers from Discraft.

4. Discraft Force

The Force is one of Discraft’s most overstable drivers, being designed with a very wide rim and a stability rating of 2.0. Any player with a lot of power behind their throws will be able to get even more distance when throwing this fast disc.

Like most of the other drivers, the Force can be found in any of Discraft’s custom plastic molds, although players do prefer to buy it in ESP plastic at the max disc weight.

I will say that less experienced disc golfers will struggle to generate enough power to make this disc glide and fly as you would expect. The Force is also great at cutting through any wind, so it’s a nice disc to have in your bag to deal with headwinds or crosswinds.

  • Flight Ratings: Speed 12 | Glide 5 | Turn 0 | Fade 3
  • Weight: 160-175g
  • Skill Level: Advanced
  • Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

For hard-throwing players, the Discraft Force will need every ounce of your strength to reach its maximum distance. It has a lot of glide and a decent amount of fade, but since it’s an overstable disc it isn’t tough for experienced players to control.

Another overstable distance driver, the Discraft Surge gives any player superior distance for most situations and holes. It’s one of the more popular drivers among Discraft pro players because of its comfort and consistent flight.

The Surge has a wider rim and flatter top compared to most other drivers, but it leads to a great feel in the hand for both forehand and backhand.

I mainly use the Surge for forehand flicks only because of its stability and ease to get a nice, clean release. It does have a lot of fade towards the end of the flight, but it’s not difficult to control as long as you can get the distance you want before it starts to turn.

  • Flight Ratings: Speed 11 | Glide 5 | Turn -1 | Fade 3
  • Weight: 145-170g
  • Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
  • Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

One of the best forehand drivers available, the Discraft Surge is an overstable distance driver that has a lot of glide and consistent fade. It feels comfortable to throw because of the wide rim and flat top, and it performs exceptionally well in headwind situations.

How to Choose the Best Discraft Driver – Buyer’s Guide

There are way more than five great distance drivers from Discraft, so if none of the above seem like the perfect disc for you I encourage you to check out the other available discs! Here are a few things to pay attention to when you’re looking for a new Discraft driver.

Plastic Type

Discraft offers ten different blends and grades of plastic that come in different weights and have specific features. Even though certain molds are more common to be used for drivers, some players prefer one type over the other.

The available plastics are Z, ESP, Titanium, Big Z, Jawbreaker, Pro D, X, GLO, Z, and Z Lite. If you’re interested in learning more, read this guide here on Discraft plastic types.

Stability

The stability of the discs is important since it limits what type of throws are possible with the driver. Discraft offers stability in ratings from 3 to -3. The negative ratings create understable discs, with 0 being stable and positive numbers leading to overstable discs.
