The Innova Valkyrie has been one of the most popular drivers from Innova, especially for newer players who are trying to move up in disc speed.
It’s got great turnover distance, a lot of glide, and actually provides a lot of range and control in both headwind and tailwind situations.

Who Is the Innova Valkyrie For?
The majority of these discs have thin rims that allow them to cut through the wind without losing speed. You’ll also discover some of the greatest speed and glide ratings on these drivers, which might be difficult for new players to throw.

When Should You Throw the Valkyrie?

- Tailwind
- Low-ceiling
Distance – This type of disc will help you to reach your maximum distance off the tee. A high speed and glide number are two important factors to look for when increasing how far you can throw the disc.
Tailwind – Tailwinds will help push your disc forward since it’ll be moving in the same direction that the disc is flying. This type of wind also causes the disc to be more overstable and have less glide since it gets pushed down towards the ground.
Low-ceiling – Whether you have a little space to throw your disc or not, using this disc will allow you to keep it low and flat over any terrain. It’ll go right over the ground during its journey if you throw it quickly.
The stability of the disc is one of the biggest factors in determining how a disc will fly once it’s released.
Understable discs are more likely to turn over during the flight compared to stable or overstable discs. Newer players should be able to throw straighter and gain more distance with understable discs since the slower arm speed will cause them to travel straight.
Valkyrie Plastics
The Valkyrie can be found in all of the following plastic grades:
- Star
- DX
- Champion
- EchoStar
- GStar
Star – The Star plastic mold gives your disc the durability of the Champion plastic, while offering up more overall grip. It’s similar to the Pro line for comfort and grip, but is more firm. Most of the Innova discs are manufactured in this plastic at least since it’s durable, performs great in all weather, and is cheaper than their premium plastics.
DX – The DX Line has the most models and weights of any line. These discs are budget-friendly and provide a good grip in a variety of weather conditions.
Champion – The most premium and expensive plastic from Innova is the Champion mold. It’s extremely durable, firm, and overstable. Discs made in Champion plastic can take a beating against trees or rocks and still keep the same flight characteristics. Since it’s so durable, this plastic is less flexible and soft.
EchoStar – EchoStar plastic has similar features to the original Star plastic, but is softer and has enhanced grip. It’s also made with between 50-100% recycled plastic to help reduce waste.
GStar – GStar is a flexible plastic mold that’s softer and less stable than other premium plastics. It’s comparable to Star or Champion plastic that has been used and beat in. One great benefit of the GStar plastic is that it will hold its shape and flight pattern for longer than DX or Pro discs.

The Valkyrie can be found with a minimum weight of 130 grams and a maximum weight of 175 grams.
