When asked about the Discraft Zeus, I always tell people that the closest comparison on the market is the Innova Destroyer. It isn’t very surprising how similar these discs are, especially since the Zeus was designed for 5-time world champion Paul McBeth.

Overview of the Discraft Zeus
The Zeus is one of the most popular distance driver that Discraft has ever created. With this disc and enough arm speed, you can absolutely crush some monster drives right from the tee. Since the disc is a 12.0 speed, I don’t recommend it to complete beginners, but you should be able to keep it under control with a little experience on the course.
One of my favorite things about the Destroyer that is also true for the Zeus is how much glide is allowed when thrown correctly. There’s nothing quite like standing there while you watch your throw stay up and continue going all the way down the fairway. The rim of the disc is sharp and plays a large part in why the disc has consistent glide and flight even in windy conditions.
It can be tough finding the right driver that gives you a consistent flight pattern but that’s exactly what the Zeus does. Throw it on a hyzer backhand with enough control on the stability and watch how powerful of a throw you can get. It’s even a great disc for forehands as long as you can give it a good snap without turning over mid-flight.
Who is the Discraft Zeus for?
This disc does require someone who can put some zip on their drives, so avoid getting one if you haven’t played for very long. Other than the arm speed aspect, most intermediate and experienced players would be able to pick it up and start getting some great drives immediately.
Since the closest comparison is the Innova Destroyer, that might help some of you judge whether or not you should add a Zeus to your bag. If you’ve used the Destroyer in the past and haven’t had any issues getting a full-length flight out of it, then you’ll find similar results.
Even though the majority of players will use the Zeus exclusively for backhanded throws, it is still a great option for your sidearm drives as well. The advantage of a shallow rim allows a good grip which is important when throwing the disc forehand. With a sharp rim, it can easily cut through the air and get the long glide that is built into the flight pattern of the disc.
