The Innova Mystere was a disc that was designed and released for tournament sponsorships. It’s considered a smooth driver and is perfect for throwing flex shots, or long-distance throws with maximum glide.
It’s also fairly accurate and easy to control, but I wouldn’t recommend the Mystere to completely new players.
For the rest of this review, I’ll be covering the best uses, plastics, and weight for the Innova Mystere.
Quick Review of the Innova Mystere

Weight: 165-175 grams
Stability: Stable
Skill Level: Intermediate
Who Is the Innova Mystere For?
Every player’s game necessitates drivers if they’re looking to improve their skills and lowest score. Drivers are the flattest disc type by profile, and their rims are big enough to feel comfortable in the hand.
This is also why driver flight qualities vary so much. Because of the larger rim, distance drivers have a longer glide and can go further than other disc types.
For more experienced players or those who can throw far distances, distance drivers are effective at improving your game.
These are the major benefits of using a distance driver:
- Getting closer to the basket on long distance holes
- Designed with more speed, glide, and flexibility in shot types
For disc golfers with some prior expertise and practice, Intermediate discs are ideal. These discs may be thrown by beginners, but they’ll require a lot of effort to achieve considerable distance.
When Should You Throw the Mystere?
The best throws for the Innova Mystere are:
- Distance
- Flex
Distance – This type of disc will push you in the right direction for reaching your maximum distance off the tee. When it comes to increasing how far you can throw the disc, look for a high speed and glide number.
Flex – Overstable discs are perfect for throwing these flex shots where the disc is released at a strong angle and then flex back to stable. For a lot of players, this is the easiest way to add more distance to your normal drive.
I didn’t mention it above but the amount of glide on the Mystere allows for some crazy long drives. Even without much power, you’ll see the Mystere continue to glide down the fairway for what feels like an eternity.
If you can control the turn and minimal fade at the end of the flight, you can maneuver and land this driver wherever you want on the course.
Mystere Plastics
The Mystere can be found in all of the following plastic grades:
- Star
- GStar
- Champion
Star – The Star plastic mold gives your disc the durability of the Champion plastic, while offering up more overall grip. It’s similar to the Pro line for comfort and grip, but is more firm. Most of the Innova discs are manufactured in this plastic at least since it’s durable, performs great in all weather, and is cheaper than their premium plastics.
GStar – GStar is a flexible plastic mold that’s softer and less stable than other premium plastics. It’s comparable to Star or Champion plastic that has been used and beat in. One great benefit of the GStar plastic is that it will hold its shape and flight pattern for longer than DX or Pro discs.
Champion – For hundreds of rounds of disc golf, Champion Line discs retain their original flight characteristics. The DX, Pro, or Star version is sturdier than the Champion Line model because of its stronger plastic.
Mystere Weights
The Mystere can be found with a minimum weight of 165 grams and a maximum weight of 175 grams.
Pros of the Innova Mystere
- The Mystere can be thrown very far even without a lot of speed, power, or snap.
- With its flexibility and stability, you can throw some beautiful flex shots on any type of angle.
- Compared to many other drivers, the Mystere is designed with a lot of glide without requiring a lot of speed.
Where Can You Find the Innova Mystere?
Although the Mystere can be found at most of your local disc golf shops, I also recommend checking out these online shops.
They have plenty of disc options and have images of each individual disc that you can sort through, look at, and pick.
