Innova Corvette Review (How Does it Fly?)

If you’re looking for a fast disc with an enormous amount of glide, the Innova Corvette might be the disc for you! This distance driver from Innova has the highest speed and glide numbers available, and it’ll show once you rip a throw down the fairway.

For this disc review, I’ll be going over my thoughts on the Corvette, including how the disc feels in the hand as well as what types of shots you can expect to throw.

Quick Review of the Innova Corvette

Flight Ratings: 14 Speed, 6 Glide, -1 Turn, 2 Fade

Weight: 165-175 grams

Stability: Stable

Skill Level: Intermediate

One of my favorite things about the Corvette is that it’s easier to throw when compared to most other high-speed distance drivers.

The 14 speed does scare a lot of players away, but at least it’s much easier to control and maneuver as long as you have power behind your throw.

Who Is the Innova Corvette For?

Distance drivers are designed for players who want to throw their disc as far as possible. Most of these discs have thin rims which help them cut through the wind without slowing down. You’ll also find some of the highest speed and glide numbers on these drivers, which can make them tough for new disc golfers to use.

These are the major benefits of using the Corvette distance driver:

  • You can expect a ton of consistent glide on almost every throw.
  • The Corvette doesn’t have a lot of fade so it’s great at throwing straight towards the basket.

For disc golfers with some prior expertise and practice, Intermediate discs are ideal. These discs may be thrown by beginners, but they’ll require a lot of effort to achieve considerable distance.

When Should You Throw the Corvette?

The best throws for the Innova Corvette are:

  • Distance
  • Accurate

Distance – This type of disc will aid you in reaching your maximum distance off the tee. When it comes to increasing how far you can throw the disc, look for a high speed and glide number.

Accurate – Some discs are more controllable than others, and this one is straightforward to control and launch for precise lines and distances. You’ll have no trouble keeping this disc on the fairway or aiming straight towards the basket.

The stability of the disc is one of the biggest factors in determining how a disc will fly once it’s released.

Since the Corvette is stable, it’s easier to control and shape your shots. This driver is unlikely to turn over unless the release angle is too much to fight against.

Corvette Plastics

The Corvette can be found in all of the following plastic grades from Innova:

  • Star
  • GStar
  • Champion (Premium)

Star – Star plastic is one of the premium Innova plastics that’s known for being grippy, durable, and consistent. It has the same durability as the more expensive Champion plastic and will keep its shape in both cold and warm weather.

GStar – GStar is a softer and less stable premium plastic than other high-end materials. It’s comparable to Star or Champion plastic that has been used and beaten in before. One great advantage of GStar plastic is that it will retain its form and flight path for longer than DX or Pro discs.

Champion – The most premium and costly plastic produced by Innova is the Champion mold. It’s extremely long-lasting, firm, and overstable. Discs molded in Champion plastic can withstand abuse from trees or rocks while retaining their flight characteristics. Because it is so robust, this material is less flexible and soft.

Corvette Weights

The Corvette can be found with a minimum weight of 165 grams and a maximum weight of 175 grams. Most distance drivers will fall in between the range of 160-175 grams, with 175 being the maximum allowed weight.

Pros of the Innova Corvette

  • The Corvette comes with a ton of speed, glide, accuracy, and distance.
  • With a wide rim, you should have no problems generating enough spin to get up to its maximum speed.
  • Throw for a straighter shot since there’s not much fade as the disc slows down during the flight.

Innova Colossus – The Colossus is a max distance driver with a predictable high-speed turn and trustworthy fade. It features a large rim, but it’s also simple to hold and throw both backhand and forehand despite this.

Dominator – Distance driver with a lot of glide and predictable fade.
