Best Discraft Fairway Drivers

1. Discraft Undertaker

The Undertaker has become the instant favorite for many disc golfers that have given it a throw or two. Any player with enough arm speed should throw this fairway driver to see how easy and predictable it is to use.

Even though it’s not as common for beginners to use, throwing the Undertaker is a great way to practice different shot shapes and work on being able to control the disc.

With a clean release, the Undertaker will head straight and follow that path until the small amount of fade as the disc slows down. One of the reasons I bag an Undertaker is because Discraft offers the disc in different molds that each have its own stability. This is great and allows players to find the perfect fit for what they need out of a fairway driver!

Flight Ratings: Speed 9 | Glide 5 | Turn -1 | Fade 2

Weight: 160-175g

Recommended Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced

Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

The Undertaker is a slightly overstable fairway driver that has a small amount of turn and controllable fade. It’s one of the more comfortable forehand discs available, has grippy plastic,  and has an easy release.

2. Discraft Heat

An easy disc to increase your distance, the Discraft Heat can usually be found in the bags of beginners all the way to more advanced professionals. It has a smoother and smaller rim that increases the comfort in the hand.

The slower speed of 9 lets new players maximize the distance without losing control of the disc during its flight. I usually recommend it to players who are trying to learn hyzer throws with an understable disc.

I prefer taking out the Heat when I need a disc to travel mainly straight without much of a fade out when it starts to land. Other common uses are shot-shaping throws and more uphill throws.

Flight Ratings: Speed 9 | Glide 6 | Turn -3 | Fade 1

Weight: 160-175g

Recommended Skill Level: Beginner

Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

The Heat is a great beginner disc that brings massive glide and control to any player who brings one to the course. It’s usually thrown for turnover shots, hyzer flips, or even rollers for more experienced players.

3. Discraft Anax

One of the faster fairway drivers made by Discraft, the Anax has been one of the most popular Discraft Discs ever since it was created for the Paul McBeth line of discs. The more experienced disc golfers will be able to get huge distances on their throws.

It’s reliable, has more glide than most other fairway drivers, and can be thrown on windy courses. If you need a disc that can be thrown straight for the majority of the flight, the Anax is great for those holes.

The Anax is also made with Discraft ESP plastic, which gives a great feel in the hand and offers a ton of grip and durability.

Flight Ratings: Speed 10 | Glide 6 | Turn 0 | Fade 3

Weight: 160-177g

Recommended Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced

Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

The Anax is the perfect fairway driver for players with big arms that want slightly more distance without having to move to a max distance driver. It performs well in the wind and has a reliable amount of fade when it slows down.

4. Discraft Raptor

On the higher end of speeds for fairway drivers, the Discraft Raptor comes in at 9 speed and 3 fade. It is designed with a flat top that allows the disc to be thrown in any condition, wind or no wind.

Since it’s an overstable driver a lot of disc golfers will choose the Raptor as their go-to forehand disc. Any player with enough arm speed should be able to get this disc far down the fairway before it begins to fade out.

Once you get used to the strong fade you’ll find the Raptor is great at reaching those tough greens that are blocked by trees or other obstacles. One of my favorite shot types when using the Raptor is to throw it low and hard and let it skip off the ground towards the basket.

Flight Ratings: Speed 9 | Glide 4 | Turn 0 | Fade 3

Weight: 160-176g

Recommended Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced

Beadless: Yes

Final Verdict:

The Raptor is a 9 speed fairway driver that’s built to cut through the air with a strong fade at the end of the flight. It’s a great option for forehand and backhand players with its comfort and reliable flight pattern.

5. Discraft Stalker

The Stalker is a stable control driver that excels at being thrown straight for both forehand and backhand shots. It’s a pretty easy disc to control which makes it a great disc for any player to bag.

Another reason this disc is so controllable is that it only has a 7 for the flight speed rating. The lower speed means players with less arm speed can still get maximum distance and hit their preferred landing area.

One thing that’s slightly different from other fairway drivers is that this disc comes with a small bead on the rim. If you aren’t used to throwing beaded discs it can be less comfortable until you get some practice on releasing and gripping the rim.

Flight Ratings: Speed 7 | Glide 5 | Turn -1 | Fade 2

Weight: 160-179g

Recommended Skill Level: Everyone

Beadless: No

Final Verdict:

The Discraft Stalker is one of the best fairway drivers for anyone looking to throw straight and far. It’s easy to control for players of all skill levels and has very little fade at the end.
